What a Princess Eats

October 13, 2005

Our three-year-old, affectionately known as Ramona around here, was trying on princess dress-up clothes this morning. I interrupted, in that irritating way mothers do, to ask if she would like some string cheese (aka “cheese sticks” in RamonaSpeak.)

“No,” said Ramona. “Princesses don’t eat cheese sticks. Princesses only eat brownies. Did you know that?”

I didn’t know that.

Hmmm . . . there happens to be a pan of brownies sitting on the stove top at this very moment. Coincidence? Divine Providence? Perhaps just a princess’s sovereign right.

What’ll we do with ourselves this afternoon?” cried Daisy, “and the day after that, and the next thirty years?”

“Don’t be morbid,” Jordan said. “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”

a work in progress. I sheepishly admit that it took a few attempts before I figured out the link business. Given that I’m an internet junkie, I’m embarrassingly inept when it comes to basics that most technophiles would consider elementary. I plan to post as time allows, i.e., until I get bored or am interrupted by a child. Since the last time I experienced the luxury of boredom was in 1992, we can assume my children will be to blame if I get nothing done here.
